As a young boy I filled exercise books with fantastical stories of faraway places. Then one day I started visiting real-life faraway places, taking pictures and writing things down. Today I’m a journalist and sometime photographer trying get his head round the new tools and new truths of the news business. I’m interested in people and places, be they at the end of my street or on the other side of the world.
I work in London for the BBC, mainly covering international news online, viewing the world through the slightly distorted prism of the 24-hour news agenda. For a sense of perspective I take pictures in my spare time, and blog about photojournalism for the Frontline Club. My photographs are available for editorial use through PA Photos.
In 2009 I got married; in the process of getting married and now of being married I seem to take photographs a lot less often than I used to, and blog even less than that. Nevertheless, I am still out here… sometimes.
I live in Bow, East London, in wedded bliss.
I collect stamps, but only in my passport.
This is my personal blog: all thoughts and opinions expressed here are my own, and do not represent the view of the BBC.
My photography portfolio is online at www.blenford.com
