Democracy at dusk

I’ve promised myself – and many of my friends and family – that this won’t turn into a dull-as-ditchwater travel blog reporting back the minutiae of what I’m doing each day I’m in South America. Instead I like the current pattern of posting roughly one picture a day from the ones I’ve shot recently on the road. I seem to have enough time to do that, although my tried and trusted methods of travelling alone are being sternly tested by the challenges of having three new companions – girlfriend, camera and computer. All need a certain amount of attention (some more than others, obviously…!).
So for now I’ll stick to photography. Today’s shot is of Argentina’s Congress building in central Buenos Aires. I took my tripod out for the first time on the trip, mainly to test the Lee filters I brought along – there’s another shot of the building I can post when I get the time on that subject – and got this nice 20 second shot of the huge building, which just about squeezed into the frame of my Sigma 10-20 at its widest (anyone who has that lens will know how wide that is).
Tomorrow’s shot? Who knows. We went to a tango show last night, so suddenly I was practicing my indoor low-light photography (and wishing I had the 30mm f1.4 I decided not to buy). Then again, today we flew to Ushuaia, the Argentine town at the southernmost point on South America, and tomorrow we go on a hike to the hills.
So there’s sure to be something new just around the corner.
